Candlewood

Built in Houston’s Tanglewood neighborhood, this Tudor-inspired home was designed for a lively family of six (plus two beloved dogs) who wanted something timeless but fully livable. The couple met in Washington, D.C., and their appreciation for the city’s historic architecture inspired our approach—leaning into old-world charm with leaded-glass windows, custom millwork, reclaimed brick, and handcrafted beams that lend a sense of history to the new construction. Working closely with the full creative team from the beginning, we shaped interiors that feel warm, layered, and grounded, using earthy neutrals and dusty blues to complement arched thresholds and heavy timber accents. The kitchen and breakfast room deepen the palette with stormy cabinetry and handmade brick, while the primary suite softens into serenity with a vaulted ceiling, soft blue walls, and drapery concealed within a sculpted pocket that echoes the curves and arches carried throughout the home. From the light-filled piano room to the inglenook in the study, the house balances formality with ease—designed to support the real rhythms of family life, without compromising on beauty or soul.
